Field Day

Alex had a very fun field day to wind down his last days of school. They had several inflatables, a few games and ice cream. It was a good incentive for a burned out kid! He had skating section for gym class and LOVED it! Posted by Heather Brewer Hill

Dance, little tiny dancer!

Sophia is beyond a girly girl. She loves anything pretty, to dress up, wear makeup, get her nails painted, and to dance. She is comfortable in front of people and has a confidence in herself that makes me jealous. This is her second year of dance and this year she was introduced to tap. It is so fun to see the improvement as the year progressed. I don't know what her special talents will be as she matures but I hope she finds things that make her happy and that she is willing to work hard to be the best she can be. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Mother's Day is always such an awesome, pinch me time! I can't believe that I am blessed with so much. I have to work hard, almost daily, at not yelling at my kids...and I don't always succeed. But, this is the best job in the world and I take it very seriously. I vowed to always put my kiddos and husband first and again, I don't always succeed at being the best but I try. I am so grateful to have parents and family that support my family and show the love of God through them, I am grateful for mom friends and church family that let my kids see everyday what "good" is! Okay enough of that... Well there are 7 days and counting...to the end of school.  Alex, as well as myself, could NOT be more excited.  We have been beyond blessed with awesome teachers and assistants from the time we entered preschool.  This year has been no different.  He has learned so much and came home Friday telling me what time it was on my watch.  So smart and they learn so much in kindergarten.  So proud of my big guy, I can't even look at him without choking up with pride!  Sophia has also come so far this year and really is anxious for the next step but we have decided on a 5 day a week preschool instead of kindergarten to let her mature a bit more and to be a "baby" one more year.  Yep, lots of lost sleep and many prayers sent up on this one but I am feeling good with this decision.  It really has made a world of difference for Alex.  Now, Miss Ava is as independent, strong-willed and smart as they come.  She seems to have matured overnight and I know that preschool will be no match for her next year
I am ready for a "break" from the daily schedule even though we have VBS, T-ball, and gymnastics to contend with for a few more weeks...then off to Florida! This is the teacher appreciation gifts the kids and I put together for their teachers and assistants. It included a cup, beach towel, sunblock and a tote/picnic basket. These pictures are of Alex's school trip to the zoo! It was his first bus ride as well. So happy I got to share it with him. Alot of his classmates had never been to a zoo and it was pretty cool to experience it with them for the first time! The last picture is my sweet Sophia and Ms. Jami. She has been such a big and precious part of our lives since Alex was at WC preschool. She has given me so much guidance and given my kiddos such great confidence! Posted by Heather Brewer Hill

I must, I must, I must get caught up!

Tee Ball, dance receitals and the end of school is among us.  I am remembering why I cried alot in May last year...I was constantly coming and going and got way overwhelmed.  I hope to not do that this year and just try to take it in a little better as well.  We have had our first tee ball game and it was fun to watch the kids enjoy it so much.  Sophia and Alex are on the same team with pretty much all kids they know really well which also means a great group of parents that are all involved in practice and in games.  I wish every sport and every season could be like this but I guess that's the point of getting them involved is to meet new people!  I have a feeling after looking at our upcoming schedule I will be more than ready for vacation come early June...bring on the beach!

Sophie and her friend Ella. My little slugger!

Absolute true personality in this picture...she is totally posing.
She came out with her uniform on and it was like she was wearing a sequins gown with high heels,
she struted and was totally shaking those hips and shoulders.

Alex backs up his best buddy William to stop the ball on the mound!

Go Astros!  Daddy is so tickled that the games are scheduled so that
he can help this year!  He enjoys being on the field with them
and the other awesome Dads!

The biggest cheerleader there!  She loves watching them
and of course, having Papaw buy her treats at the concession
stand!

You go with your pink bat girl!

Alex getting his stance down and ready to swing!  Homerun Big Boy!

I think I am finally caught up...May is going to include lots more great memories I will be able to share.  After getting these last three posts in one day made me realize how much we are SO Blessed and so lucky to be able to have and do so many great things....hope you're having that feeling today too!

Easter's come and gone

Such a great little family that makes me the happiest Momma!
Alex and his buddy Joey at the Easter Egg Hunt at school.

Alex hunts eggs with his classmates

Sophia's preschool class showing off their finds at her egg hunt

Alex coloring eggs

I believe all of Ava's eggs were colored pink.

Unfortunately my mom is not much of a photographer so this is the best family pic I got from Easter

my beautiful girl hunting at Grammie's

Ava wanted to stop after she found the first pile and just start eating!
Let me back up and post some Easter pictures.  Geez, where did Easter go?  This spring, even though it has been longer with this warm weather, has flown by.  My kiddos seemed to get the true amazing reason for Easter this year and that is as beautiful as they looked all dressed up that morning to go celebrate!  Even with the cool breeze we enjoyed being outside to hunt easter eggs and play in the yard.  We enjoyed the day at my parents house and, as usual, ate way too much!

My own little space.

Stock cabinets, unfinished.

Another stock cabinet that we screwed together to make one long workspace.

Painted black without countertops.

countertops in and most things put away.

The "l" part we just thought up and bought squared off posts to make legs.
I finally have my craft area done!  It's not huge but functional and hopefully will allow me to be productive in my spare time (whatever that is).  My sweet husband helped me brainstorm after I searched many-a-blog to find the perfect setup for me.  We finally decided on stock cabinets that I painted and we added a countertop and a desk.  So far it is working well and I hope to not allow my stuff to spill out in the rest of the area.  We just put new flooring in this area because it is right off our garage and alot of people come in this way but the problem is it is also our catch-all room.  We workout in here, it's a mudroom, my craft space and used to be partially a playroom because let me be honest...every room in this house seems to be a playroom.  We have moved out all toys and now just have it as the mudroom/workout/craft space.  I'm happy and let's face it that's all that matters.  At least that's what my husband told me even though it was with some sarcasm!

This Spring...

picnic on the deck

tea party at school...so much fun!

This has been an amazing Spring, it actually started at the end of February.  We did have one quick, beautiful snow that only lasted a day so we had to get out and play in it before I took Alex to school.  They had a  two hour delay so that helped.  After that it has been just beautiful actually hot at times.  This is great but I still have a few indoor projects to complete so I can start all the outdoor projects.

We did get our spring garden planted so hopefully the lettuce doesn't get burned up in some of these hot afternoons!  We have certainly enjoyed playing outside and fun days at the park.

Cameron, Brayleigh, Ava and Sophia plus one proud Auntie!

my sweet girls thoroughly enjoying Brayleigh

The new family of four

Grammie gets about 30 seconds before Sophia wanted her back!

We had Ava's birthday...still in denial that she is 3 and my nephew and his wife had their beautiful baby girl, Brayleigh.  My girls are totally in love with her.  I never thought Ava would be so attentive to her but she can't get enough of her, especially her fingers and toes!  I don't think I have gotten to hold her more than a few minutes.

We are currently on Spring Break and between the relaxed schedule and warm weather I am ready for summer break! I love having my babies all home even with the fighting, messy living room and constantly hearing "I'm hungry". I wouldn't trade it for anything. We went to French Lick and stayed at the water park for a night. We had a great time getting away and chillin'! We also start Tee Ball practice on Friday. I am hoping this year is alot of fun as we have some great friends on our team and Sophia is playing too. Alex is looking forward to it.

We also completed our master bathroom remodel and laid new flooring in our basement.  I can't believe how much better it feels to have those 2 big things done.  Now to tackle the outdoor projects so I don't spend all summer working on them!
