Ugg, 1 week left of summer break and I really haven't accomplished much. Most of my outdoor projects have been scraped due to the high heat, drought and my lack of motivation. I did, however, redo a bookcase that my grandmother had given me a few years ago. It was a dark stain and with my dark house I thought a nice pop of color in the hallway would be beneficial. I really am pretty happy with how it turned out. I debated on adding new hardware but the original knobs look pretty nice. I am now debating on sanding for the distressed look but haven't decided. I just sanded it instead of priming so I would have that stain to show through in distressing.

Alex turns 7!
Enjoying his new 3DS
This is really hard to accept! Being my oldest, I remember my pregnancy, birth and all of his firsts so vividly. He has always had a sweet disposition. He is smiley, tender-hearted, fun, silly and a smart little guy! He has so much compassion for others and really is a friend to everyone he meets. (At least kids, he is really shy around adults). He picks up new things so easily, like his Dad, and is so quick in math. He loves art class and to draw at home. He really does some good drawings like his Grammie. I'm seeing a trend that he hasn't gotten any cool qualities from me! I can't tell you how many times I watch him doing things, engaging with his classmates or friends or just sitting and playing and I tear up at what a neat little person he is! He approaches life cautiously but then does it whole-heartedly and accels! He makes me nothing but proud and I know he is destined for great things. I thank the most gracious God everyday for my 3 blessings and how cool they are!
He weighs 52lbs and is 49.5 inches
He wears a size 7 in most things and size 1 shoe.
He will be starting 1st grade!!!!!

My grandmother, an inspiration to us all!
My grandmother, Anna Clark Brewer, is such a beautiful woman. She is my inspiration, my cheerleader, my supporter, my spiritual leader and just all the things a grandmother should be. She would snuggle me, fix any bump or scratch as a child and all the harder ones as I got older. She could always say so much without saying a word. She taught me that love is what gets us through. She is so strong and so loyal. She lost my grandfather 5 years ago and still misses him everyday. They were a picture of marriage. This past June she turned 90. She still lives at home alone, she drives occasionally, she travels 5 hours to visit my family, she gets out into her yard and does alittle gardening and is overall is in good health! I love her soooooo much, she has touched and influenced my life in so many ways. My kids adore her and she still makes every effort to get down on the floor and play with them. They talk about her alot and get so excited when she visits.
We had a 90th birthday party for her which included my 2 cousins, my parents, aunt, uncle, my dad's cousin (who is very close with my grandmother) and all of the great grandkids. She was super happy to have all of her ducklings there!

Sophia turns 5!
Her very own purple wii remote!
Happy Birthday---her birthday cookie!
My sweet, sweet Sophia...you are 5! I don't know how time can go so fast, you are so smart, so sweet yet so sassy! You love princesses, dressing up like a princess, playing princesses and marrying princes! You are in gymnastics and cheerleading currently and did dance and tee ball this past year. You have grown so much and in so many ways. You love to write and draw, you can do a cart-wheel but haven't mastered it but have gotten your backward roll on the floor very well! Your Daddy and I are so proud of your attitude toward new tasks, your compassion for others, your love for Jesus and the way you sing and dance to praise Him, your imagination, your care-free outlook on life! We say that you could care-less what people think and just go for it...I LOVE that about you! You love your friends and play very well with them. Your sister is another story but someday you two will be inseparable. We are so blessed to have you in our family and you make each day an adventure and you can make me absolutely crazy at the same time you make me smile! Happy Birthday baby girl...live each day Sophia style!!!

Florida Fun!
Well vaca is over....I say this like a whiny 3 year old! It's always hard to leave but we are glad to be home safe and sound and to see our 2 dogs! The crazy things make me crazy but I do miss them and I'm pretty sure they missed us! Our trip was relaxing, fun and sunny...just like we wanted. My parents went with us and we all had a great time at the beach. The 1st day we arrived was a bit rainy and there was a rip tide which warranted a red flag and HIGH waves. The next day was predicted to be rainy but we were able to be out half the day but only stood in the surf because of high waves and the lifegaurds weren't letting anyone our very far. The days following were perfect and even with some high waves but we were able to finally get out and play in them. Ava swam like a fish even after only having 4 lessons and she soon abandoned her life vest while in the pool. We would think she would just play on the steps but would find her swimming to all of us in the pool. We ate awesome food and went to alittle fun park where we did bumper boats, go-karts, bumper cars and some little kiddie rides. They (Dad and Matt) included had a ball. We were waiting in line for the go-karts where Ava was going to ride with me, Matt was riding with Sophia and Dad was driving Alex and joking about how we would each pass each other. Well, as we passed some other karts Ava yelled out the side "Bye, Bye suckers"! The funniest thing I've heard and she was serious...no smile, no laugh-all serious!!! She is really a funny little kid. All in all it was a great trip and I am ready to go back!

Tee Ball...on to the big leagues
Tee Ball was actually alot better this year. The kids had so much fun, there were great "dad" coaches and we pretty well knew everyone on the team well. This was their final game where they got their medals. Alex will move up next year...more tears!
